Saw this great stat on ESPN.com:
Number of games played in rounds 1 and 2 by the eventual Stanley Cup winner since 1987, the first year all rounds were best-of-seven:
 Edmonton, 9
 Edmonton, 9
 Calgary, 11
 Edmonton, 11
 Pittsburgh, 12
 Pittsburgh, 13
 Montreal, 10
 New York Rangers, 9
 New Jersey, 10
 Colorado, 12
 Detroit, 10
 Detroit, 12
 Dallas, 10
 New Jersey, 10
 Colorado, 11
 Detroit, 11
 New Jersey, 10
 Tampa Bay, 9
 Lockout
 Carolina, 11
 Anaheim, 10
 Detroit, 10
 Pittsburgh, 13
 Chicago, 12
 Boston, 11
(New York Rangers-Washington will be at 14 through 2 rounds after Saturday's game)
The bottom line is that since the NHL expanded the first round to a best-of-seven in 1987, no eventual Cup winner has had to play two game sevens in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
That doesn't bode well for whomever wins Saturday, as the well-rested Devils could be licking their chops in the Eastern Conference finals.
It should be pointed out the Bruins became the first team to win three game sevens en route to the Cup last season, but they had a sweep in the second round after beating the Canadiens in overtime in game seven in the first round.
